Yo peeps!! Whaddup?
So, I was just studying when there was a power cut and then, the back-up was about to run out of juice. That's when my speakers started to make a buzzzz noise.
So, my mum asked me why and I was all like..
'Umm, my ipod is connected to the speakers which are connected to the plugpoint which is connected to the main power source of our house which is out of juice..' .
'Wait, So you are listening to music while studying??? Where is your sense of responsibility?'
'No. The speakers are on, that's it!'
'Well my sweet darling, You can't use your ipod from now on till the board exams are over..'
And I was all like ' Say, whaaaaaaaaat?!!!!'
Well, why .. because music is a form of escapism. I study like a crazy doofus piece of ____ and then, what I really need to do is listen to some songs and relax myself. How in the hell am I gonna do that now?? Why is it that adults don't understand. Anyway, I didn't hand the ipod over.. So, case closed.
The point I'm trying to make. Or more like, the question I'm going to ask is what my life skills teacher failed to make me understand.. 'Why is there such a communication gap between us and our parents and why is there no balance between studies and other stuff , when it comes to important exams?'
As I have mentioned several times. My blog is a forum for public opinion. So if you are reading this blog, share your opinion/ any other things you have to say regarding this.

I think the most important solution here - is to instill a feeling of trust between parents and their teenage drama kings/queens! They need to trust us and believe that we are mature enough to differentiate between right and wrong and they need to start accepting that as young adults we are independent and like to make our own choices.
ReplyDeleteAlso in return, I feel it is essential that we understand that 'parenting' wasn't taught in high school; there is no guide book for it, are parents are trying as hard as us to fit in our lives and we should be able to respect that plus retain our opinions without being offensive or rebellious.
BTW...I luv listening to music while doing stuff like math or copying notes; sadly my iPod is confiscated due to same reason! :(
Yeah! Very good point. It is important for both sides to meet halfway in terms of things going the way they want it to.
ReplyDeleteAnother question I was thinking about was 'Why is their such a difference in thought process in the first place?'
They're 20th century and we're 21st century...I guess that's why! :P :P
