Enough Sins.

You ever have that moment when you’re listening to some sad song, or even a happy song. And then you feel your soul burning, because it reminds you of something you used to have? You feel a knot in your throat, nostalgia in your heart, your brain is hurting and your eyes are wet and sticky.

I don’t know if it’s just me who feels that way most of the time. But, in this article.. I’m not asking for sympathy or forgiveness.. I am merely giving you facts. Infact, I’m going to be a little selfish in this article and talk about myself. When I say that, I think it’s time for me to confess.

This article is about sins, it’s about everything we’ve done wrong and not taken into consideration. Forget stealing, thuggery, drinking, doing drugs which are eventually going to affect you. The biggest sin is being an ass to those who matter to you.

I can assure you, I’m the biggest ass to ever exist (no pun intended). I’ve hurt so many people I can barely count. Hell! I don’t remember how many people I’ve hurt this week.

Every time you lie, every time you insult someone, every single bloody time you pretend to be somebody’s friend. Think about what you are doing.

I’m trying to add witty humour into this article, but I just can’t. Because I’m so unbelievably serious. People matter.  And every time you succumb to any of these evils, you’re letting go of your own dignity and you’re screwing somebody over.

I need you to take just one minute, and think about the people that you actually care about. Now keep them close to you, never let them go and take care of them. You never know when they’re going to leave you in life. And if you continue acting like a prick to them, you can be damn sure that ‘when’ is soon. If you have treated anyone badly, then apologise. Forgiveness will not nullify what you have done, but that’s the most you can do-  show how sorry you are.

Say it with me.. ‘I’m done being a douche’ .
And I’m sorry for the level of seriousness in this article, but I find it crucial to share this with my readers. I don’t want you to feel as regretful as I do and I definitely don’t want you to end up hating yourself as much as I do for what you’ve done.

Nostalgia, A poem (On a relatively serious note)

I studied in the Deens Academy for 5 years from the 6th to 10th. This is the longest I've been in one school by a large margin. And I've always loved change since I was a kid. When I was little, I used to beg to sleepover at my parents' colleagues houses for a change in environment (and to avoid my parents). As others felt all nostalgic and sad that they were leaving school, I mocked them as usual for being wussies. But now I see.

I used to compare myself to a Chameleon
Cause I was used to change all the time.
But now that I find myself reminiscing
I feel the need to express feelings through this rhyme.

I can still hear Aditya S Raj shouting
And Ansh making Hyena-like sounds in class.
I see Sidharth and I laughing like drunkards on the back bench
And I still wonder how we managed to pass.

Subashri's still making tiki heads out of Chalk
And Saniya's giving people recipes for cake.
Subha's telling people how to live their lives
Because success ain't easy to make.

Manvi's screeching old Hindi songs
Shraddha's updating us with new gossip from T-Zed.
Shikhar's telling us about his true love for Drake.
And Kristina's talking a lot, but she's doing it inside her head.

Sourish is spreading his immense knowledge of subjects
And Pranati's making that usual surprised face.
Cause she just heard some new gossip that everyone already knows
And Mahima, as usual .. is just being a nutcase.

Sparsh is authoring stories
And Rakshanda's being a general nerd.
Kiara's doing tourism advertisement for Delhi
Karthik is always just one out of two love birds.

Jha's doing a star act with different characters in front of different people
And Sahana's asking Manali and I to solve her problems in the hall.
Varun is stalking another girl or bullying Ishqi.
And Nikhil is bragging about how he's relatively tall.

Who could forget Sudarshan,
He's trying to convince us that Eminem is better than all our legends of Rock.
It pains me to think all of this is gone
This nostalgia's giving me a mental block.

Rebellion And Love. (It's not what you think it means)

The ways of this world have always confused me. I'm not sure if that makes me a great thinker, about to start a wave of Renaissance or a crazy teenager on the brink of insanity. I don't know what it is that makes me question day to day practices and try and refuse to do what everybody else does. Well, this is my official confession, where I confess to the fact that I don't listen to many written and unwritten rules and also try to do things differently, because I want to be the one to change ways of life.

I never asked for an instruction manual or a guidebook as to what to do in life. Why must we all listen to pre-written rules laid down for us by other people. Are they any wiser than us? Are they 'gods' ? Oh wait, yes.. it is 'god' who tells us what to do through other people. -_- (I apologise for making use of an emoticon in my article, but it was required)

I'm being very general here though. There are two sides to this. On one side, there are practices that genuinely wrong like thievery, drug abuse etc. And I'm not saying I don't believe stuff like that is bad and out of order. But one must realise that it's only the society that perceives thievery is wrong which is why it's technically bad and punishable by law. To practical idealists.. this sentence might seem like Latin.

To simplify things (or not), let me take the example of an alien planet. Maybe society on this alien planet thinks differently and drug abuse is a good thing as it makes you die sooner. And dying sooner is something that is desirable.

And this is where you  say 'WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAT IN THE BLUDDDDYYY HELL ARE YOU SAYING??'

Anyway, there's another side to it as well. There are some practices through autocratic governments where certain sections of societies are denied rights and even in Democracies like India, there are laws passed denying gay people .. well, mere existence.

What I'm trying to say is, I don't see why we have to listen and follow the perception of old and even dead guys who were allowed to have their own opinions. But nowadays, we have to follow the already laid down ideals of what is right and what is wrong. WHY?

Another stupid thing is affection. I don't know where to start with this. I can't deny that I succumb to love and affection myself and that I love several people- my family, my friends. But why is that emotion even there? Why did 'god' or whatever make us humans 'fools for love'. I mean, seriously.. I don't want to live without love but what is the point of it.

This brings me to our purpose on Earth. Why do we keep taking things so seriously, and thinking about trivial nonsense like money, when we're gonna die like dogs anyway. For future generations? Future generations who are gonna die too. I want to know why humans were given life? What's the reason and what's our actual job?

(the above is a reference to the ending of battlestar galactica where the humans sort of find purpose)

When you think about that, professions like being a doctor or an engineer just sounds like stupid sh**. Because, I swear to god! I'm so confused and everything seems so petty and trivial to me. Anyway, thankyou so much for reading this. I'm sorry for torturing you through the medium of writing.

Safety Of Women... Why?!

Who would’ve thought that this is what I’d write about.  In the minds of several people, I am the most insensitive female when it comes to this topic. That fact stings a little bit, because being a female myself, I don’t want to be ‘unsafe’ (if that’s a word).

Earlier, throughout the world women were perceived as docile, fragile, submissive and inferior. Even ‘the great Gandhi' felt women belonged at home and should take care of the family and do chores. But when the society decided to let that perception go, why do we still think women need to be spoiled  and given extra protection.

What I’m trying to say is, we should stop thinking about taking measures for the safety of women and start thinking about women empowerment. If women are equal to men, why can’t we take care of ourselves? Why is it that no matter what happens, even if we preach equality- We can’t let a woman be independent and take care of her own security and well-being.

Men need to know that women aren’t objects and they will not be taken for a ride. They need to know that men and women are equal in population and if you insult a woman, then she has the capability to beat the crap out of you.

The main problem that the society is dealing with here lies in perception and the visualisation of women as fragile and inferior. I say, women let go of being little princesses because Monarchies barely exist nowadays and things don’t run that way no more.

Delhi!! (Enough said)

*This post might pertain to the interests of mainly Indians.

I came back from a nine day vacation in Delhi (the capital of India) yesterday. And even though I’m really tired, I feel the need to write about Delhi.. But damn! I had been stuck on the first line for 10 minutes because I really don’t know how to describe Delhi.

Delhi defines the state of the whole country in a way, showing us where we are  in terms of development of tourism, economy, industry etc.

Delhi is a place of crazy political competition and corruption at the same time. It’s the abode of the biggest fashion designers and the worst dressers at the same time. It’s an area of abundant greenery and abundant pollution causing industries.  It’s got the filthy rich and the filthy poor.

I stayed in Gurgaon for a lot of time as well, which is practically owned by DLF and filled with markets and malls. I never thought of Gurgaon to be as developed as it was.

I witnessed brilliant ancient architecture in the historical monuments like the Qutb Minar, India Gate, Rashtrapati Bhavan and The Red Fort. And who could forget, the magnificent Taj Mahal (Agra) which is more fascinating up close than in any of the descriptions or photos.  We bought beautiful handicrafts of different types and different decorational techniques like the semi precious stone encrusted in marble from Agra.

My mom and I (mainly mom) also went shopping, which is impossible to avoid in Delhi where you have got all those amazing markets including Janpath, Khan market, Santushti complex, GK-1 AND GK-2 M and N Block markets, Pallika bazaar, Chandni Chowk and many others. Not to mention DLF Emporio which is stocked with unaffordable treasures designed by iconic designers like Tarun Tahilliani etc. , DLF Promenade with the amazing collection of the best Zara, Forever 21 and Claires clothes and accessories  and also DLF Ambience .

And ofcourse, I ate like a goddamn pig in Pind Balluchi- a Punjabi restaurant (twice) , Haldirams (thrice), Bikanervala (twice), the ‘Paranthe wali gali’ in Chandni Chowk, Masha – A scary restaurant, the theme of which is based on the abode of the ghost of an alcoholic lawyer, L’opera- A pastry shop (twice), Starbucks and more!

I also learned a lot about politics and figured out why people are so crazy about Narendra Modi. I saw how upset people were about the fact that Arvind Kejriwal and AAP haven't performed as they promised and deserted the people of Delhi when the same happened. Auto rikshaw drivers had torn of the AAP posters from the back of their Rikshaws and were now campaigning for Modi. Infact, the billboards are flooded with Modi posters repeating the slogan 'Abki Baar Modi Sarkaar' , for every 15 Modi posters there was about one for Rahul Gandhi (Congress) .

My only regret is probably eating as much as I did, because I can barely fit into my pants now (not exaggerating). So, bye! Gotta hit the elliptical.

Guess What, You're Probably Not Getting Hated On Because People Are Jealous Of You!

“If you have enemies, good
that means you stood up for something.”
― Eminem

Fine, the quote was a a Winston Churchill quote restated by Eminem. The point is-. I personally have had several encounters with people who claim to ‘hate’ me and I’ve also seen others being hated.
You must be like ‘You Don’t Say’ because, ‘Goddamn!! Hate is a normal thing’ .  It’s an everyday, perhaps every second occurrence.  Hate is abundant, just like love and that’s what this post is all about.

Look, I’m not going to talk about how peace is the most wonderful thing in the world and hate is ruining it and go on whining like a little sissy. I’m just going to talk about ‘hate’ in general.

Looking at it realistically, out of all the people who claim to hate, there is a high probability that most of them actually don't hate or even dislike what they say they ‘hate’. It’s an overused word which has lost its strength and meaning just like the words love, trust, epic etc.  Most of the time people are just jealous or trying to fit in.

Let’s take the case of Bieber, One Direction, Twilight and Slipknot. There are two types of haters for the above-
1. The type of haters that say ‘Oh! I hate it’ and don’t know sh** about it. Mainly the music and  book readers. I have a friend (actually several) who claim to hate certain music artists and when I ask them why they don’t like the music artists and what songs they don’t like they’re as blank as a brand new A-4 sheet of paper.

2. The type of haters that know absolutely everything about something and claim to hate it. Like the Twilight haters who are like ‘I hate twilight, I couldn't even get to the end of the book.. It sucks’ and then they criticise the ending of the book.

To these people, I say ‘Y U NO GET LIFE!?’ You are allowed to hate, but please have a solid reason and do not make baseless statements. And when I say this, I DO NOT MEAN ANALYZE ALL THE ASPECTS OF THE THING YOU ARE HATING AND WRITE A FULL SIZED NOVEL ON IT BASED ON YOUR RESEARCH!

To those who know me, I’m a Bieber hater, A Twilight hater, a Miley Cyrus hater, A Madonna Hater, A Led Zeppelin hater, A Lorde hater etc. So, am I a hypocrite? .. Unfortunately , yes.

Also think about this, there’s a chance that if people hate you it could also be due to the fact that, you waste their time and you are an obnoxious brat which is why nobody likes you, and you deserve to be locked up in a cage and ignored for the rest of your life.

'To sum up this post, I lay emphasis on the last line.'

Please follow the blog for updates and comment because, for the millionth time- I need to know what you think about this topic! Pleeeeaaaassseee!

*P.S – I don’t like Lorde because she’s mean and loves criticizing people.

Shoutout to my fellow haters! I 'hate' you!! So keep hating ..
XOXOXO
Lots Of Hate.

We've Had It Up To Here - Say 'Dem Parents

Yo peeps!! Whaddup?
So, I was just studying when there was a power cut and then, the back-up was about to run out of juice. That's when my speakers started to make a buzzzz noise.
So, my mum asked me why and I was all like..

'Umm, my ipod is connected to the speakers which are connected to the plugpoint which is connected to the main power source of our house which is out of juice..' .

'Wait, So you are listening to music while studying??? Where is your sense of responsibility?'
'No. The speakers are on, that's it!'

'Well my sweet darling, You can't use your ipod from now on till the board exams are over..'

And I was all like ' Say, whaaaaaaaaat?!!!!'

Well, why .. because music is a form of escapism. I study like a crazy doofus piece of ____ and then, what I really need to do is listen to some songs and relax myself. How in the hell am I gonna do that now?? Why is it that adults don't understand. Anyway, I didn't hand the ipod over.. So, case closed.

The point I'm trying to make. Or more like, the question I'm going to ask is what my life skills teacher failed to make me understand.. 'Why is there such a communication gap between us and our parents and why is there no balance between studies and other stuff , when it comes to important exams?'

As I have mentioned several times. My blog is a forum for public opinion. So if you are reading this blog, share your opinion/ any other things you have to say regarding this.

And follow the blog, NOW!

Music, Actually

How's it hanging, homies?
I'm usually made fun of by my friends because, despite knowing a lot of stuff regarding music and regularly following the music industry... My friends be saying I have a really bad taste in music. I guess they prefer 'pop' crap to pure awesomeness ie. metal and rap. So, anyway .. I wrote an article for a newspaper (which didn't come in the newspaper cause I'm not popular enough or some crass). So, here it is-

Every Song Has Something Special To It
-          By 17 Chainz
Before I sat down to write this article, I made a playlist consisting of genres that not many of my friends listen to. Most of these songs were by some of the most mercilessly criticized music artists. I listened to it and I realized that most of these songs were my all-time favourites. So basically it means that either I have a bad taste in music or majority of others do.  The former is more likely but since I am expressing my opinion of music in this article I will tell you how I find the beauty in the often criticized and ignored songs.

Let’s start with heavy metal, a widely disliked genre of music. A large segment of traditional people consider such music unholy and parents say it is disturbing. This criticism can be due to the fact that heavy metal songs consists of constant screaming,  not much beats  and is usually played very loud.
However, when I listen to a Metal Song especially by bands like Disturbed, Slipknot, Slayer and
Saliva I forget all my worries and all my troubling thoughts and just immerse myself in a world of sublime loudness. Have you ever heard an amazing guitar solo and almost literally felt the music flowing through your spine? Well, that’s what metal feels like to me!

There are also artists like Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato and Carly Rae Jepsen. I won’t say anything about the first two artists, because I don’t particularly like them but I listen to Taylor Swift and Demi Lovato when I feel emotional. Their songs have such meaningful lyrics and make me feel like I am not alone.
Lessons can be learnt from Rap as well. Despite popular belief Rap is not just about black guys talking about their jewelry, their cash or thuggery. Nor is it a battle between West Coast vs. East coast all the time. Rap tells stories of friendship, overcoming obstacles in life and being thankful for what you have. Mirror feat Bruno Mars by Lil Wayne and Right thru’ me by Nicki Minaj two of the most criticized music artists reflect these ideals.

So, the next time somebody says a song that you listen to is terrible, ask them to listen to it again carefully and they will surely find something special in the song.

Why Did I Decide To Start Blogging Again?

Yo..
As you know, I'm '17 Chainz'. If you know me personally, you are most probably aware that I used to blog like crazy when I was in 8th grade in my ex-blog ie. sammy1998.blogspot.com . And I put in a lot of effort into maintaining it.
Then came the pressures of 9th grade going on to 10th, because of board exams and what not.

'So, why am I starting to blog again, just a month before my 10th board exams', you ask ...

Umm, because-
A. The thrills of blogging are irresistible
B. It acts as a productive break from my studies instead of doing stupid crap like watching T.V episodes for the millionth time etc.
C. The level of 'like-a-bau5'ness that you feel when your blog gets views or is commented in or followed is immeasurable.

My old blog < link .. click on it, I say ..

Anyway, here's hoping that this blog is a huge hit just like my last one.
Over and Out,
17 Chainz
